With Antonio Conte reportedly offering himself around to Paris Saint-Germain, Tottenham’s outlook on the transfer market this summer could be very different were he to head over to the French capital somehow.
Let’s, however, put all that to one side, and move forward with the idea that he will remain in London under Fabio Paratici, who is seemingly keen to please him as best he can when it comes to strengthening the squad.
One question mark in that department remains the future of Harry Kane, who could still seek greener pastures if Tottenham fail to qualify for the Champions League, meaning he would need to be replaced.
Among the many names often touted, one that pops up more often than not is that of Lautaro Martinez, who has already worked under Conte and therefore knows what would be asked of him.
Inter are expected to need at least €60m from a sale (and reduce their wage bill by 10-15%) to break even this summer, and the Argentine is widely seen as the most expendable.
Corriere dello Sport on Monday state he is ‘valued between €70-80m’, and while Atlético Madrid are interested, the hope could be that ‘maybe again Tottenham or another English club will knock on the door’.
Tuttosport, on the other hand, are a bit more convinced of Spurs’ interest in the striker.
They state that Martinez is liked ‘especially by Tottenham and Atlético Madrid’, and Inter start their valuation at €70m, echoing Corriere’s report in that regard.
We’ll have to wait and see what happens with Kane going forward, but should Tottenham qualify for the Champions League, perhaps the idea of using the two of them could start creeping in?
