RB Leipzig star Marcel Sabitzer has long been on Tottenham Hotspur’s radar.
José Mourinho became a fan of the 27-year-old after he impressed against Spurs in the Champions League last season.
Recent reports indicated the midfielder is one of the ‘main targets’ of the north London club this summer as his signing is an ‘express request’ of their manager.
The Premier League club’s interest in the Austria international is further backed up in his country.
According to Laola1, the player’s future is still up in the air since his contract with the Bundesliga side runs down in 2022.
It’s explained the interest in Sabitzer is ‘huge’, from ‘especially Tottenham’, whose coach is said to be ‘extremely fascinated’ by the Leipzig captain.
Julian Nagelsmann’s side are ‘reluctant’ to let him leave for free, meaning they will sell the Austrian in the next market, if he decides not to sign an extension.
Sabitzer has refused to discuss Tottenham rumours, but he’s aware of the need to take the ‘most important career decision’.
“There is nothing against it, but nothing for it either. I am relatively neutral. I know that I am at an age where it may be the last step. That’s why I let it go through my head,” Laola1 quoted Sabitzer as saying.
