Sunday’s edition of L’Equipe has some big claims around the future of Nicolas Pepe.
Several clubs have been linked with the Lille player, with Liverpool being the Premier League side currently getting the most attention in the stories.
The French newspaper reports there’s interest from England, ‘especially Liverpool’. Jurgen Klopp, particularly, is said to be appreciative of the player’s profile.
L’Equipe‘s bigger claims, however, are around Inter Milan.
They state the Italian club have offered €90m for Pepe.
That would fly against everything being reported in Italy on Inter’s summer business. For weeks it’s been claimed the Serie A club want Romelu Lukaku, but simply can’t afford the €70/80m wanted by Manchester United.
So how have they suddenly found €90m?
Even if they were to sell Mauro Icardi, then Lukaku would still be the main option.
L’Equipe also state Atletico Madrid have offered a similar amount and Pepe would be used to ‘offset the departure’ of Antoine Griezmann, yet in Spain they believe that’s what the purchase of Joao Felix is all about.
Perhaps Lille are trying to push the price artificially high, which €90m+ seems.
Liverpool will likely be well aware of any games.
