Wherever Adrien Rabiot goes, scrutiny is high, such was the promise shown by the midfielder during his early days at Paris Saint-Germain.

His behaviour off the pitch has sometimes left a lot to be desired, but that has been overlooked for the most part when he’s played well, which is why Juventus were ready to give him a chance when his contract in France ran out.

Unfortunately, his rollercoaster form hasn’t convinced everyone, which was why we saw a number of stories linking him with a move to Everton, where Carlo Ancelotti is in charge.

The Italian has been one of the few managers to get the best out of Rabiot when he was at Paris Saint-Germain, so a reunion at a club in dire need of midfield reinforcements made sense.

In the end, the Toffees looked elsewhere when bringing in new players, but that doesn’t mean their interest in the 25-year-old has dwindled.

That’s what Calciomercato were reporting on Tuesday, looking at how Rabiot hasn’t confirmed his promising displays towards the end of last season, and was recently criticised for his performance for France against Portugal.

They point out that teams in England ‘continue to estimate him’, before stating ‘especially Carlo Ancelotti’s Everton’.

It’s nothing much, but it’s just a heads up this one hasn’t gone away, and with André Gomes not exactly setting the roof on fire, it might be something at the back of the Italian manager’s mind for January.

We’ll have to wait and see.
