Arsenal are in the picture to sign AC Milan’s Ismaël Bennacer in the summer, according to Calciomercato.it.
The Algeria international missed the first three months of the season with a knee injury and regained full fitness in December. Since then, he’s made 15 appearances, managing an assist in the process.
Milan are working on signing a striker and a defender, and further additions will depend on sales in the next window.
The 26-year-old is observed by clubs in Europe and beyond, and the Gunners belong to the former category. Despite the knee injury, it’s claimed the player is liked in the Premier League, ‘especially by Arsenal’.
The report says Stefano Pioli’s side consider him an ‘important player’, but if there’s an offer of around €50m, it would certainly be considered.
Bennacer spent two years at Arsenal between 2015 and 2017, and made one appearance for their first team. He left the Gunners permanently for Empoli, and the Italian club sold him to Milan in 2019.
Arsenal have an opportunity to bring him back to the Emirates, if they were to meet the Italian club’s request in the summer.
