After their unsuccessful attempts to sign Dusan Vlahovic during the January transfer window, it’s clear to all that Arsenal are after a new striker.

After all, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was allowed to leave the Emirates on a free in January to sign for Barcelona, while Alexandre Lacazette’s contract is set to expire in June.

This means we are very likely to see Mikel Arteta spend money to sign a new goalscorer in the summer, but who remains the big question.

One league the Gunners appear to be focusing on to find their man is Ligue 1, which is a hunting ground they know well, signing the likes of Nicolas Pépé, Gabriel Magalhaes or even William Saliba from there in recent years.

We say this because But! Football Club have two separate reports suggesting Arsenal are keeping track of strikers in France, with those being Jonathan David and Hugo Ekitike.

We’ll start with the Canada international, as the website have an article on him, with it explained he could be a plan B behind Gianluca Scamacca at Inter.

The ‘cost of the operation’ could be somewhere between €50-60m, and it’s made clear the Serie A side would have to make do with competition from England, with both Liverpool and ‘especially Arsenal’ having watched the striker during Lille’s clash against Chelsea in the Champions League.

That’s not the only game involving a French club the Gunners have watched recently either, as the same But! Football Club reveal that Ekitike was ‘scouted by English giants’ in Stade de Reims’ game on February 20th against Stade Brestois, before adding ‘especially Arsenal’ once again for good measure to make it clear Arteta’s side were there.

A deal for the 19-year-old would be a tad cheaper, if you want to call it that, as €40m are required to convince the Ligue 1 club to part with their starlet, since that’s the fee they accepted from Newcastle in the January window before the youngster turned them down.

So, Ekitike or David, Arsenal fans?
