Arsenal are one of the clubs in the mix to sign Lille star Jonathan David in the summer, according to Calciomercato.it.
The striker has been in fine form for the Ligue 1 side this season, scoring 21 goals and registered four assists from 32 matches in all competitions.
It’s no surprise the 23-year-old’s displays have caught the attention of Arsenal, AC Milan and other clubs.
The report mainly focuses on the Serie A side’s need to improve their attack for next season. They want to provide cover and competition for Olivier Giroud, since Divock Origi and Ante Rebić haven’t managed to impress.
Along with Italy, Milan are also looking at the French league for a striker, where David’s name is on top of their target list.
In order to acquire the Canada international’s services, the Rossoneri will ‘have to beat’ the competition from Premier League sides, ‘especially from Arsenal’. Lille, for their part, are ‘ready to sell’ their prized asset in the summer.
If David ends up at Arsenal, this could see Mikel Arteta’s side let go of Folarin Balogun. The latter is currently on loan at Stade de Reims and has managed 19 goals and three assists for them this season.
