Feyenoord manager Arne Slot has hailed Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag, claiming that his performance at Old Trafford is paving the way for Dutch coaches.
Ten Hag moved to Manchester United from Ajax in the summer after several impressive years with the Dutch side, where they competed in the Eredivisie and Champions League despite big departures every year.
After a rocky start at United he has proven to be a big hit, revitalising the side and leading them back up the Premier League table.
They’re currently third in the table and just three points behind Manchester City in second, while only five points behind leaders Arsenal, although the Gunners have a game in hand.
They are also set to take on Newcastle United in the Carabao Cup final on Sunday and progressed in the Europa League earlier this week with an impressive win over Barcelona.
The work Ten Hag is doing has not gone unnoticed, including by his fellow Dutch trainers, with Slot claiming he is paving the way with the work he is doing at Manchester United this season.
“Erik is doing great and that is fantastic for the entire Dutch trainers’ guild,” FC Update report him saying.
“It took quite a long time before a number of great trainers from the Netherlands got a successor. That seems to me to be the case with Ten Hag.
“Certainly the way it happens and how praiseworthy it is spoken about is a positive development for me and all Dutch people.”
