Aston Villa’s Enzo Barrenechea has been lined up to be the ‘big surprise’ at Valencia, with an opportunity to present himself potentially on the cards.
That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who say Valencia coach Ruben Baraja is looking to ‘change the face of the team’ and that could be a positive for the Aston Villa loanee.
The newspaper explains that Valencia currently find themselves in the relegation zone and the task for the next two games at least is to get out of there.
Their fixture list is not an easy one, to say the least, but wins against Girona and Osasuna would help to turn things around and perhaps put the side back on track.
To do so they will need to add ‘freshness’ to the starting 11 which is currently plagued by absences and the feeling is that Baraja is about to change things up.
That could provide Barrenechea, on loan from Aston Villa this season, the chance to impress after making his debut at the weekend.
The idea is that Baraja wants to add a defensive player to his team to free up Pepelu and Barrenechea could be that man, coming in as a ‘big surprise’ and helping to change how they line up.
In reality he’s largely being looked at because he’s not the rest of the squad, who have been unimpressive this season and now need to be changed up.
It’s a great opportunity for Enzo.
