On March 18th, we covered claims made journalist Gerard Romero that Sergio Reguilón’s agent has offered the Tottenham Hotspur defender to Barcelona.
Another journalist Carles Domènech reported on Friday that it is possible for the 25-year-old to join the La Liga side in the summer.
Domènech’s claims are relayed in today’s edition of Mundo Deportivo, and Antonio Conte’s man is named as one of the left-back options for the Catalan club next season.
Valencia’s José Luis Gayà is the main target for Xavi Hernández’s side, but sources from the Camp Nou claim it will be difficult for him and Jordi Alba to ‘live together in the same club’.
Therefore, the Spanish club are looking at alternatives and that list includes RB Leipzig’s Angeliño, Benfica’s Alejandro Grimaldo, Celta Vigo’s Javi Galán and Reguilón.
After Romero and Domènech linked the Tottenham player to Barca, Mundo got in touch with the Spanish side.
The club sources were ‘very sceptical about the possible interest’, while the Spaniard’s environment ‘do not rule out’ him joining Barca. It won’t be easy for them to buy Reguilón as he is having a ‘leading role’ at Tottenham. However, a deal could be done by including one of Barcelona’s players as part of the move.
Earlier this week, Romero reported Spurs have shown interest in Memphis Depay. Mundo points this out again, suggesting a swap deal could be possible involving the forward and Reguilón.
