Manchester United have reportedly looked at Valencia’s Ferran Torres as an alternative to Borussia Dortmund star Jadon Sancho.

On May 26th, reports from Spain suggested the Red Devils are expected to make an offer for the Spaniard.

CalcioNapoli24 claim the 20-year-old’s entourage is ‘already in contact’ with Manchester United, Manchester City, Atlético Madrid, Bayern Munich and Dortmund. Napoli are also in the mix.

Torres’ relationship with Marcelino [former Valencia manager] ‘broke down’ in 2019 and the latter informed Valencia’s management the player would not be included in his plans for this season.

With the coach’s departure, the winger got opportunities to shine due to injuries to other players who play in his position.

This convinced Los Ches to offer him a renewal as Albert Celades’ side proposed a five-year deal worth €3m per season. This is their maximum.

According to the report, the poor relationship with Marcelino, and Valencia not proposing an improved offer, are the two reasons for Torres’ decision to part ways with the club this summer.

The renewal proposal offered by the La Liga side is something Napoli cannot meet and that would see the Naples club drop down the pecking order.

The likes of United and City can offer a better deal than Napoli, to the wideman and his employer. However, no offer have been made so far.

CN24 add the young star would prefer to ‘make the qualitative leap’ to a club where he can challenge for domestic and European trophies. Everything indicates he will leave Valencia this summer and the report claims Torres will be sold to the ‘highest bidder’.
