Leicester City sealed a comfortable victory over Newcastle United at the weekend, just days after getting knocked out of the Europa League.

The Foxes suffered a 3-2 defeat against Napoli last Thursday and overcame the disappointment by managing a 4-0 win over Eddie Howe’s side, but for their trip to Italy, Brendan Rodgers was forced to leave seven players back at home after they tested positive for Covid-19.

Napoli, on the other hand, suffered a loss at the hands of Empoli in the league last weekend. During the tie, Piotr Zieliński was forced off the pitch in the 22nd minute with breathing difficulties.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, the Pole’s ‘respiratory problems’ on Sunday ‘worried everyone’ at the Serie A side. There’s suggestion the issue could have come from the Premier League side, who visited the Naples club last week.

It’s stated Leicester ‘refused to undergo swabs’ at ASL Napoli 1 Center, even after seven of their players tested positive. Therefore, the risks unfortunately remains high for the Italian club.

The newspaper further adds: ‘The tests so far have averted complications for Zieliński, who has symptoms of bronchitis’.

In order to avoid further complications, Gazzetta state the entire Napoli will, including their support staff, will undergo Covid-19 tests on Tuesday morning. This is done to prevent the clash against the Foxes from ‘being a source of the contagion’.

With Napoli players undergoing tests today, it won’t come as a surprise if Eddie Howe’s side follow suit, especially considering Newcastle faced Leicester on Sunday.
