Sevilla are losing hope of signing Anthony Martial on loan from Manchester United this month.
Towards the end of last year, the Frenchman’s agent made it clear the player was looking for a way out of Old Trafford, feeling he needed a change in his career.
Ralf Rangnick, in charge at the Red Devils until the end of the current season, then revealed he’d had a chat with the attacker, and that Martial himself had talked about wanting to leave the club.
Manchester United are prepared to allow that, but only on their terms.
Early claims from Spain stated Sevilla wanted a loan until the end of the current campaign, and to have a purchase option, rather than obligation, in the deal. They also didn’t want to pay a significant loan fee, and there were even some claims the Premier League club would be required to pay a percentage of the player’s wages.
This, clearly, wasn’t the type of move Manchester United were looking for.
Marca now report that Sevilla are looking at other options, after Rangnick’s side requested an ‘enormous amount’ for the January deal.
The move is now ‘practically ruled out’, and Martial’s agent will have to look for other options, or persuade Sevilla to part with more money than they intended.
