Eintracht Frankfurt chief Markus Krösche has claimed West Ham want to be ‘tough’ on the German side’s fans attempts to get around ticket rules.
The Hammers are set to face the Bundesliga club in the Europa League semi-finals later this month after their two clubs pulled off big results in the quarter-finals.
While West Ham saw off Lyon with an impressive display in the second leg, Eintracht were pulling off the result of the round with a 3-2 win over Barcelona at the Nou Camp.
That result alone saw them hitting the headlines, but the story behind it also hit the news, with Eintracht fans taking over Barcelona’s stadium by purchasing tickets intended for the home fans.
That saw as many as 30,000 Eintracht fans in the stadium, something which played a major role in their victory and has caused fury in Barcelona.
West Ham have moved to stop this happening to them at the London Stadium, limiting Eintracht to 3,000 tickets and warning that fans will be blocked from entering any areas they’re not supposed to be in.
The Hammers are being as strict as possible, and Krösche has admitted they are going out of their way to make things difficult.
“The English want to be tough there. I hope that there are still more in the city. This feeling does something to us,” Hessenchau report him saying.
Krösche has also commented on the game itself to FAZ, admitting his side will need to repeat their performance from Barcelona against West Ham, which he feels is a “50-50 game” in which “anything can happen.”
