It’s transfer season, and to be more specific, it’s Portuguese transfer season, during which clubs have to get their finances in order for the next year. Being a big Portuguese club involves finding great young talents, nurturing them, and then selling them on for the biggest possible fee.

Portuguese newspaper Jornal de Noticias claims that ‘English sharks’ Tottenham are ‘available to pay €30m’ for Adrien Silva. That would suit his current club Sporting, and also the player himself, with Adrien said to be keen on a move and the resultant pay rise.

Recent Tottenham links to Sporting captain Adrien were kicked off by an opinion piece in England, but the Portuguese media have really run with them.

That could either be a coincidence of timing, or the Portuguese press could be claiming Tottenham want to sign Adrien based entirely on someone writing that it may, just may, be a good idea for Mauricio Pochettino.

This one is bound to rumble on, and it would be no surprise if it gets to the stage that Adrien is actually offered to Tottenham.
