If there’s one person not helping the Jorginho stories go away, it’s his agent.
Already admitting to being in talks with a number of sides regarding the Napoli midfielder, the representative has once again discussed his client’s future with Radio CRC, and England appears to be his next destination, with both Mancheser United and Manchester City heavily linked in the past.
He said, relayed by Corriere dello Sport: “All the English clubs have asked information, but none of them have made an official offer, so I cannot say which lead is the hottest. If he were to leave Napoli, I can say that Jorginho doesn’t have a release clause and he won’t play for another Italian team”.
Also ruling out a move to Barcelona for his client since the La Liga champions have signed Arthur from Gremio, it seems Jorginho only has a few clubs he could go to.
Since there’s been little talk of him going to Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich or Real Madrid, that only really leaves the Premier League as a league with clubs capable to afford what Napoli will be asking for him.
Were José Mourinho or Pep Guardiola to make a move for the midfielder, the general consensus in Italy is that a fee of around €50m would be deemed acceptable, with negotiations then able to start.
It’s also worth noting that Jorginho’s agent made it clear his client’s future was not linked to Maurizio Sarri’s, stipulating the player could still stick around even if his manager decided to leave Napoli in the summer.
The question remains: where will the Italy international play next season? Old Trafford? Etihad Stadium? Stadio San Paolo?
Napoli will have the final say. If they don’t want to sell him, he’ll be staying.
