On Janaury 24th, we carried several reports on Denis Suarez’s situation at Barcelona.

Mundo Deportivo was the first to claim the midfielder will not be afraid of any threats from the La Liga winners and his entourage has made it clear the 25-year-old will ‘only’ leave the Camp Nou in the winter market if he gets the opportunity to join Arsenal.

Sport then reported the Catalan club are willing to let the former Villarreal man join the Gunners on loan, without an obligation to purchase, if they receive compensation for the loan deal.

However, for this to happen, the Spaniard needs to extend the contract and was demanding better wages, something the Blaugrana were unwilling to agree.

Later that day, Marca explained that former Barcelona and current Arsenal director of football Raül Sanllehi is believed to be an obstacle for the north London club to sign Suarez.

Friday’s edition of Mundo Deportivo once again mentions Suarez’s wish is to still join the Premier League outfit because of two reasons.

The first one is that Arsenal are a big club in Europe and the second is because Unai ‘Emery has spoken with him’ to convey his confidence.

Real Betis and Sevilla are two clubs who are interested in Suarez and are willing to pay a transfer fee in January.

Barcelona regrets that he is rejecting offers from other Spanish clubs and they still trust him to reconsider one of the aforementioned offers before the transfer window closes next week.

Time’s running out for Suarez, Barcelona and Arsenal.
