While it’s far more likely that Inter will end their transfer window loaning Eliaquim Mangala from Manchester City than Arsenal’s Shkodran Mustafi, the Serie A side apparently have another backup Premier League option, just in case everything else collapses.

That man is apparently Liverpool’s Mamadou Sakho, long forgotten by Jürgen Klopp at Anfield, who, despite hugely impressing during his six month loan move at Crystal Palace last season, hasn’t had many suitors this summer.

All put off by Liverpool’s asking price for a player they really don’t want anymore, interested clubs seem to be waiting to the last minute to come forward with concrete offers, and Inter could be one of them.

Looking at the possible defenders Luciano Spalletti could end up getting, Sakho is said to be the one ‘concealed from view’, suggesting he’s there, in the manager’s back pocket if needed and the developments go their way.

Probably the more realistic option alongside his Manchester City compatriot, the former Paris Saint-Germain captain will be desperately pushing within Liverpool for a move, especially with the 2018 World Cup next summer.

While there is a lot of competition for a space in Didier Deschamps’ squad next season, the France manager has never dismissed the possibility of Sakho returning, and a good season somewhere could shoot him right back into the mix.
