The Sadio Mane to Real Madrid story continues in the Spanish media on Tuesday.
Monday’s edition of Marca had the Liverpool player on their front page and talked up transfer interest, which followed claims from France Football and El Confidencial.
All three have been reporting it independently, which would give some weight to the claims, and all three have said it’s Zinedine Zidane driving Madrid interest in the player.
It doesn’t appear that anything has happened as of yet with regards to contacting Liverpool, and when that does then Madrid may well be scared off by the response they receive.
Regardless, there does seem to be something in Zidane’s interest, rather than this all being plucked from thin air.
Monday also saw the publication of France Football, and their claims that Madrid could be about to offer €280m for Kylian Mbappe. Almost immediately, Madrid sources rubbished this story, and Mane interest was mentioned again.
Today Marca explain just why Zidane likes Mane so much and has targeted him as part of the club’s summer ‘revolution’. The manager wants an ‘electric’ attacker who is flexible in his position. Someone who is ‘fast, combative, aggressive’.
Mane’s speed is of course an attraction, and also the way the Liverpool player doesn’t lose much of his acceleration with the ball at his feet.
20 goals so far this season also serve as a reason to be keen.
Marca say this all contributes to the reasons Zidane has ‘requested the hiring’ of the Anfield star.
The Spanish newspaper then go on to say: ‘Yesterday, the player’s entourage saw the cover of our newspaper and prefer, for now, not to comment, because the player is under contract.
Starting in the summer, the situation can change. Those close to him know that the player will be in the focus of other great clubs due to the season he’s having, and the goals which are being scored.’
