Arsenal have taken ‘one more step’ for the signing of Athletico Paranaense star Bruno Guimarães, according to a report from Goal Brasil today.
Journalist Bruno Andrade says club director Edu Gaspar will be meeting the player’s entourage between Friday and Saturday in London.
It’s claimed that Arsenal haven’t made an official bid for the player so far, but are expected to do it in the coming days.
Athletico Paranaense are hoping to make between €25m and €30m with the sale, according to the story.
Goal highlights that Atlético Madrid, Flamengo, Chelsea and Benfica all had Bruno Guimarães as a target lately.
The Portuguese giants even made a bid of €20m plus €5m in bonuses, but that was rejected by the Brazilian side. The Eagles, however, haven’t given up on the chase.
Bruno Guimarães is protected by a release clause of €40m at Athletico Paranaense, and has stood out as one of the biggest talents in Brazil last year.
