It’s true that Manchester City were already winning Arsenal 3-0 when Ederson saved Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s penalty at the Emirates Stadium last night. But even though the save wasn’t so crucial for the result, the Brazilian goalkeeper keeps showing his great attributes in his first Premier League year.

This is the third penalty saved by the 24-year-old this season, as he keeps showing he was really worth the investment since Pep Guardiola’s side paid €40m to take him from Benfica last summer.

Ederson has spoken to ESPN Brasil reporter Natali Gedra after the game, and had a little say on how Manchester City got the away win: “Well, I think we had a good game. We were superior to Arsenal’s team. We showed good football, we left with a fair victory. At the time of the penalty we have to keep calm, we always analyse the takers before the matches, so this ends up making our work on the pitch easier.”

Asked about what’s Manchester City’s feature which makes big games like this look easy for them, Ederson said: “Well, I think our team has patience. We scored the third goal in the counter attack, but the first two goals were a lot of quality of our team, were two great goals. I think our main characteristic is to have patience, the team is very patient, works the ball very well, looks for space. So when this space ends we end up finishing, and today we were happy to score three goals.”

As Manchester City now face Chelsea on Sunday, Ederson was quizzed about this tough sequence of games and the team’s secret not to struggle with it: “It’s a very hard run. But our players want to play all the games, and when there are difficult games like that, it’s very good. But I think the important thing is to recover well, recovery, this helps a lot on the pitch. So I think the team recovers well, we work well during the week as well. So we end up carrying what we practice in training.”
