Bayern Munich’s search for a new manager has become nothing short of an embarrassment. Whoever is appointed now almost certainly won’t have been in the top five choices and may not have even been in the top ten.
Tuesday’s edition of Bild has an article on where things stand and names more than 15 possibilities, among those are Newcastle United’s Eddie Howe and Nottingham Forest’s Nuno Espirito Santo.
Vincent Kompany rose up the leaderboard of options on Monday, which is very fortunate for the Burnley manager. Having somewhat failed at Anderlecht and having just been relegated with Burnley, the Bayern Munich job isn’t the obvious next step.
So what about Howe and Nuno? Well, Bild say Bayern are now looking at less obvious ones, presumably because all the obvious ones have turned them down.
That includes the Newcastle United and Nottingham Forest managers. For Howe, it’s stated he was the topic of internal conversations at Säbener Straße, but is no longer thought to be a serious candidate.
With Nuno, he’s just edged forward as someone who is under consideration and an example that Bayern are looking outside of the box.
Bournemouth’s Andoni Iraola is also mentioned.
