Yesterday we brought a report that Millonarios FC are in talks with Watford for defender Jorge Segura.

The Colombian side are keen on the defender, who has just ended a spell at Mexican side Atlas, to bolster their defensive ranks.

Diario del Cauca reported that they were ‘accelerating’ negotiations with Watford and were hoping to get a deal completed at some point this week.

However, that seems unlikely to happen, with Marca Colombia reporting that ‘the negotiation is stagnant’ at this point.

They confirm that Millonarios’ interest in the player has increased in recent days and manager Alberto Gamero has made an ‘urgent request’ for his signing.

Unfortunately, there is an ‘economic issue’ that is holding up the move, with the club’s management seeking a ‘good agreement’ from Watford and manager Gamero admitting “They have not been able to fix the economic part.”

The player is currently in Medellín and is training on his own in a gym to he is in ‘the best possible way’ when a deal is confirmed.

In the meantime, Millonarios are still trying to get a deal done so they can have the defender in their squad as soon as possible.
