Feyenoord manager Arne Slot has been regularly linked to Tottenham Hotspur, who are in the market looking for a new permanent manager after parting ways with Antonio Conte last month.
After guiding the Dutch club to the UEFA Conference League final last season, the 44-year-old has helped them sit comfortably on top of the league table this season. Slot’s work there seems to have convinced Spurs to show interest in him.
Dutch journalist Wilfred Genee told Veronica Offside, relayed by Voetbal Zone, that Slot will leave the Eredivisie side after this season and Tottenham are willing to invest to acquire his signature.
“I heard from people last week that he is not staying anyway. He does not want to run the risk that things can go very badly in the Champions League and that he will no longer be in the picture with the big clubs. He wants to be financially independent as soon as possible. It’s easier at a big club,” he said.
“He wanted to go to Leeds. They wanted to pay €4m and he found that attractive. Spurs want to pay even more.”
Genee doesn’t specify the deal Tottenham want to propose to Slot. Apart from offering a deal to him, Spurs must reportedly pay a fee in excess of €5m to convince Feyenoord to let go of the manager after this season.
