Jeremain Lens has enjoyed a successful time on loan at Fenerbahce from Sunderland, and throughout the season there’s been varying degrees of confidence in Turkey about a deal being found for a permanent transfer.

Now the summer transfer window is on the horizon and the financial realties hitting home. the confidence is slipping away. Sunderland don’t seem to be as easy to deal with as Fenerbahce hoped, and the Turkish club are left worried about a €15m transfer fee.

Miliyet report Sunderland have been firm in talks and aren’t prepared to offer a big discount, so the Turkish club will have to start preparing alternatives. It’s not only that they don’t want to pay €15m, if they did there’d be problems with FFP.

Sunderland should perhaps have known that when loaning the player to Fenerbahce, and they too could face a problem in the summer.

Lens doesn’t want to be at the club, and his Screen Shot 2017-03-29 at 15.33.39comments about Fenerbahce getting a cheaper price if Sunderland are relegated understandably annoyed David Moyes.

There’s every chance the summer could see Fenerbahce facing the problem of being without Lens, and Sunderland facing the problem of having the Dutchman, and not being sure what to do with him.
