An ‘early return’ to Manchester City in January has not been ruled out for Tommy Doyle after his unsuccessful loan spell at HSV Hamburg.
That’s according to BILD, who say an ‘early return’ cannot be ‘excluded’ from the club’s possible plans in January.
Doyle has been with the German club since the summer when he was sent out by Manchester City to gain more first-team football.
The move has turned out to be something of a disaster, though, with him yet to feature regularly for the side despite being fit.
That’s sparked concern since day one, although Hamburg have gone out of their way to allay those fears.
Indeed, last week coach Tim Walter was insisting publicly that he had not heard about plans for Doyle to return to Manchester City early, despite reports to the contrary.
However, BILD report that after just 71 minutes for Hamburg so far, it has to be questioned if the loan deal still ‘makes sense’ at this point.
Doyle hasn’t even been used in the last three games, and as a result, an early return to the Etihad cannot be ‘excluded’ at this moment in time.
That would certainly make sense for all concerned, with the idea of City terminating this deal and getting Doyle back being one that has been growing for weeks.
