Crystal Palace and Marseille are still trying to get a deal done for Steve Mandanda. Both clubs are being stubborn, feeling they have good negotiating points, and so far it hasn’t got anyone anywhere.
Mandanda returning to Marseille is a deal which certainly makes sense, the French goalkeeper is, for very good reason, a hero at the club. After a pretty much disastrous move to Crystal Palace, a return to his sunny home seems very tempting indeed, and personal terms won’t be too much of a problem.
L’Equipe reports on Saturday that Marseille don’t want to pay anything more than €2-2.5m, with Crystal Palace wanting around double that. The latest word from the French media is that there’s an eagerness for it all to be completed before the end of the month.
If not, L’Equipe state Marseille will consider making the much maligned Yohann Pelé their number one goalkeeper. Should that be meant as a threat to Crystal Palace, it’s not a very good one.
