Catalan newspaper Sport report in their Saturday edition that Tottenham Hotspur’s Federico Fazio is a much wanted man.
Headlining their piece ‘Fazio, a central defender with many offers’, they go on to say ‘many Spanish teams’ have asked to loan Fazio.
Yet, there’s only Espanyol who Sport can actually name. In Italy, there’s only AS Roma that Sport can name, and that’s almost certainly based on Italian reports.
Roma are looking for a versatile defender, and Fazio was thrown up as an option… the major barrier to a move being that he’s not versatile.
Anyway, Sport are clear the reason Fazio hasn’t been able to take up one of his many offers, is because Tottenham are prioritising a permanent sale, and asking for a fee of €6m.
Given Fazio’s near-disaterous return to Sevilla on loan last season, there’s not many takers for anything close to that. Espanyol had wanted a loan deal, didn’t want to pay a loan fee, and weren’t keen on covering the player’s wages either.
