Newcastle United and Jonathan Bamba transfer rumours continued throughout the summer and have recently peaked again given the player’s difficult contract talks.

With a deal ending in June, Saint Etienne have obviously been keen to get a new one signed, and avoid losing the player for nothing. Bamba had been asking for far more than ASSE wanted to pay, and the French club decided to ostracise him to see if that helped negotiations.

Perhaps oddly, it did, but given the situation, Newcastle United continued to be linked, with Le10 Sport last week saying the club were ‘sniffing a bargain’.

This weekend, L’Equipe report that ASSE have increased their offer to Bamba, and it now stands at more than €55k per month. Bamba’s representatives had been looking for €130-150k per month, rising each year.

The first increased offer had been the €55k figure, and now ASSE have gone higher, with the exact amount not stated.

Whether the new offer be €60k, €70k or even something around €90k a month, Newcastle United can easily beat it, especially on a free transfer.
