Manchester United could face competition from Bayern Munich for Atalanta’s rising star Rasmus Højlund, with the German’s already having ‘€50m ready’ to spend on him.

That’s according to Tutto Atalanta, who say the German giants are ‘ready’ to put that figure on the table to secure his signature.

They are reportedly ‘anticipating’ a potential move from Manchester United for the striker, with the Reds also on the hunt for a forward and reports stating that they are keen on the youngster.

They are certainly ‘involved in the race’ for his signature among several clubs in Europe and Bayern are more than aware of that.

Thus, they are ready to put their money on the table early to try and gain an advantage over the competition before the summer.

Atalanta, though, are not blinking at this moment in time. They have ambitious goals and plan to try and qualify for Europe, possibly the Champions League with Højlund in their ranks.

They also want to ‘resist the sieges’ from the likes of Manchester United and Bayern and keep him for another season before then selling him next year for around €80m.

Whether they will be able to, though, remains to be seen. Those big clubs are showing serious interest in their star and €50m is a hard figure to resist despite a belief there could be more on offer in future.

Then there’s Højlund’s own plans to take into consideration, with the player having openly admitted he loves Manchester United and would want to play there.

If they show serious interest in him, it is hard to see him turning down the opportunity, even if Atalanta want to keep him for another year.
