As Newcastle United continue being pointed out as a potential destination for several stars, the same happens now with Paris Saint Germain striker Mauro Icardi.

The 28-year-old has been in the headlines for the past few days for his not-so-private issues with wife and agent Wanda Nara, and the Italian media now believe it could soon be time for him to leave France.

As reported by Gazzetta Dello Sport, his marriage situation could just be a trigger for another problem, which is the lack of playing time he’s having under Mauricio Pochettino, who only uses the striker when Neymar, Lionel Messi or Kylian Mbappé aren’t available.

So in case Icardi does decide to give up on the €7.3m he makes per season at PSG, then clubs from Italy and England are said to be watching the situation.

Newcastle United are named as one of the clubs who could take him to the Premier League, as the Magpies currently have an ‘infinite budget in their hands’, and spending ‘€50m or €100m would be petty’.

The situation requires patience for now, as it should all depend on the player’s wish, which may also be influenced by Mbappe’s contract saga. Gazzetta say Icardi’s priority is to keep playing, regardless whether that’s in Paris or elsewhere.
