Just a week ago, reports from the Spanish media gave a boost to reports about Tottenham Hotspur’s interest in Barcelona youngster Vitor Roque.

It was claimed that the player’s agent will travel to the Catalan capital to speak about his client, and with him getting few minutes on the pitch with the La Liga side, Spurs could be a destination.

An update on Vitor Roque’s situation now comes from Brazil, and there’s actually a strong message for Tottenham in UOL’s story.

It’s claimed that while Barcelona have decided to negotiate the striker’s departure, they also rule out a loan, and would want him permanently gone instead.

According to UOL, the Camp Nou side have been telling the market they want at least €45m for the sale.

Vitor Roque is said to be out of Xavi’s plans at Barcelona. And since the club already spent big, they want to recover part of the money as soon as possible.

It’s now up to Tottenham to negotiate that amount. Since the Catalans sound desperate to let him go, Spurs surely have an upper hand to get some interesting conditions.

Barcelona being ready to sell so quickly after the player arriving shouldn’t be taken as a warning against Vitor Roque. The Catalan club’s transfer policy has been erratic for some time, with them often buying a player without seeming to have much idea of what they’re going to do with him.

Raphinha is a similar case, although he’s determined to stay and has made himself an important player. The Catalan media are even trying to float the idea of Frankie De Jong leaving, after the mess that became last time and despite him also being an important player.
