Leeds United have this week been linked with FC Porto’s Otavio, with some reports stating the Premier League club have made an offer for the Brazil-born attacker, who represents Portugal at international level.
The 27-year-old spent last season playing on the right side of midfield for Porto, so could be a potential replacement for Raphinha. Otavio scored five goals and added 14 assists in 49 matches for the Portuguese club.
Friday’s edition of A Bola reports Leeds United have made a €30m offer, which was rejected. They state a ‘€40m proposal is on the way’, with the Whites expected to return to try again for the signing.
Sérgio Conceição sees him as an essential part of his Porto team, and Otavio is the highest paid player in the squad.
There’s confusion over the value of his release clause, with the general amount being €60m, but some sources say it’s €40m until mid July.
That, though, would have to be paid in cash, rather than spread over the length of his contract as transfer fees usually are.
Conceição, who is a fiery manager, hasn’t been thrilled with the transfer business Porto have done so far this window, so would surely be further angered if Otavio was allowed to leave.
