Crystal Palace were fairly active in the winter transfer window.

Ben Chilwell arrived from Chelsea and Romain Esse arrived from Millwall. Whether the Eagles have seriously improved their side or not remains to be seen but it seems as if they made a move to sign another player late in the window.

Calciomercato’s Daniele Longo has reported that the player in question was AC Milan’s Strahinja Pavlovic.

Initially, Fenerbahce had made an offer to sign the Serbian, who was hesitant on the transfer. With two days left for the window to slam shut, Crystal Palace made a ‘significant’ offer to sign the centre-back.

Oliver Glasner’s side put forward a fee of €28m and the report believes that it was a fee that deserved to be evaluated by the Rossoneri.

At that point, Crystal Palace were quite confident about signing the 23-year-old. Milan advisor Zlatan Ibrahimovic was not convinced about the sale and neither was manager Sergio Conceicao.

The Rossoneri’s response came as a shock to the London club, who were later informed about a rejection.

Pavlovic joined Milan from RB Salzburg in the summer transfer window and has slowly grown in stature at the San Siro after a slow start to life in Italy.
