Spanish outlet Fichajes today features a story about Rober González, who’s been drawing some attention for his season in LaLiga2.
The winger belongs to Real Betis, and was loaned out to UD Las Palmas, a switch which has allowed regular playing time.
Fichajes writes that González’s skills have been followed for a long time, as even Manchester United have tried to sign him.
They claim the Red Devils offered €20m to get the youngster, but Real Betis turned down that bid. It isn’t made clear when this proposal was put on the table, but given he’s only 19-years-of-age it must have been recent.
The story is mostly claiming that Betis should benefit from González’s good loan, as they could either have him as an important player in the future, or cash in with his sale.
Given the young attacker plays mainly on the right wing, it’s quite conceivable he was an option for Manchester United during their process of looking for talent in that position.
Facundo Pellistri and Amad Diallo were signed during the last window, and that surely makes another move for González unlikely.
