In their Monday edition, Marca have an article celebrating David De Gea. The Manchester United goalkeeper is having another good international break, and with the ghost of Iker Casillas remaining away from the national set-up, De Gea will surely be increasingly feeling like ‘the man’.
Marca explain how there’s absolutely no doubt over De Gea’s place within the Spain team, and go on to explain that he’s one of the best goalkeepers in the world.
Of course, there could be no Marca article praising De Gea without also mentioning a possible Real Madrid move. It’s certainly not hyped up, and presented in a manner to suggest De Gea is always an option.
Interestingly, Marca say De Gea has a release clause of €60m. It’s interesting, because earlier this year Marca said it was €40m. That’s a difference of €20m, 50% more, both figures obviously can’t be right.
Marca explain Manchester United and the player agreed upon the €60m when he last renewed his contract, but that would refer to the same contract which they said had a €40m clause.
