With the pandemic causing financial issues across the world of football, with clubs losing out on gates receipts, concessions and the like, any money is welcome.
That’s why Manchester City will be glad to be receiving a healthy €17m injection from Bayern Munich for the transfer of Leroy Sané.
The winger made the swap last summer for a fee of around €50m, but that fee was always to be paid in three instalments.
Bild report that Bayern Munich ‘will have to dig deep into their pockets again in the coming season’ to ensure the money is paid on time to Manchester City.
The German newspaper state that ‘due to the ongoing Corona crisis, €17m is a lot of money for Bayern too’, and their exit from the DFB-Pokal in the second round to Holstein Kiel didn’t help potential prize money either.
They can, however, collect around €4.15m by winning the Club World Cup, which would go some way in alleviating this incoming expense.
Either way, it seems Manchester City will get their money.
It’s just a bit of a pain for Bayern, who could do without shelling it out in these trying times.
