Morgan Sanson to Aston Villa has seen a lot of drama over the past week or so.

First, claims came from France of interest from the Birmingham club, and then it was stated an offer would be made to Marseille. Quickly after that, Aston Villa were said to have submitted a bid and it was reported that a move was on the verge of happening.

Then it was edged out to the French media that Marseille weren’t impressed by what Villa had put forward, with manager Andre Villas-Boas going public to say the offer was very weak.

Relations were clearly strained, and that won’t have been helped by the latest dramas going on around the Ligue 1 club.

Despite all of that, a transfer to Aston Villa is still seen as possible for Sanson this month.

French newspaper L’Equipe have been going through their own dramas recently and on Saturday published their first newspaper for two weeks, after a blank period due to industrial action.

In their latest edition they state Marseille ‘hope’ for €17-18m, but €15m ‘could be sufficient’.

Aston Villa are presented as still interested, and there’s no point them going over that €15m if there’s a chance it will do the trick.
