Earlier today, we covered claims from Portugal which explained Brighton & Hove Albion are one of a number of clubs battling to sign Alberto Costa from Vitória de Guimarães.
The Premier League side were said to have submitted an offer worth €10m for the right-back. Perhaps crucially, they were willing to let the 21-year-old remain with Vitória de Guimarães for the rest of the current season.
Sporting, Benfica and AS Roma are rivalling Brighton for the youngster, and Record now have what they present as the latest on the situation.
Brighton are said to have made a new offer, submitted yesterday, which is worth a flat payment of €12m plus a potential further €2m in bonus payments.
However, Sporting are thought to remain favourites, which is likely down to the player’s desire to move there and progress as others have done previously.
The Lisbon club are reportedly getting close to agreeing a deal but haven’t yet met what Vitória de Guimarães are now asking for. That’s €10m plus €2m and 15% of future transfer profit.
Brighton’s offer would surely please them, and it’s created ‘added pressure’ for Sporting.
