West Ham United signed Evan Ferguson from Brighton & Hove Albion on a loan deal in the winter transfer window.

The move came after the Hammers had tried to get a host of other attackers had failed in their approaches for them.

TuttoSport now report West Ham tried to sign Juventus’ Samuel Mbangula, who scored for the Turin club against PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League on Tuesday, in the winter market.

The newspaper state West Ham had put forward a fee of €10m to sign the Belgian talent in January. That sum was too little to please the Italian giants, with manager Thiago Motta now clearly showing a lot of trust in the youngster’s abilities.

Now, Mbangula’s value has risen. He is valued at around €25m by Juventus and that could reach €30m.

Tuttosport still offer some hope to West Ham. While Juve don’t plan on selling Mbangula, they could be tempted if the price tag of €30m is met in the summer.

That looks high for West Ham, and the Turin media may be using Mbangula’s goal to revalue him.
