Real Betis have been trying to identify a striker target for much of the January market, and as the window is just a few hours away from closing they’re down to two possibilities.

ElDesmarque report Real Betis are working on two parallel operations, one is to sign Cucho Hernández from MLS side Columbus Crew and the other is to get Mateo Joseph from Leeds United.

Cucho Hernández is thought to be the favourite option at this point in time, or at least the one they’re further down the line with. Real Betis wanted an initial loan and then a €12m option for the former Watford player, although they may have to commit the purchase now.

As for Leeds United’s Mateo Joseph, it’s claimed he’d be happy with a move to Spanish football. Real Betis are said to have made a €10m offer, but it was immediately rejected by the Championship club.

ElDesmarque explain Real Betis could have another go, because it’s stated Leeds United have been working to sign a striker from Southampton, who one would assume is Adam Armstrong.

Of course, the Spanish source won’t know much on that situation.
