Manchester United have appointed Bernard Schuiteman, the former chief scout of the SK Rapid Vienna, as a scout, reports Austrian website Laola.
Schuiteman will be scouting young talents for the Manchester United academy in Central and Eastern Europe. The Dutchman spent two years at the Austrian club, leaving in March, and the reason stated for his departure is ‘different ideas in the field of scouting’.
Laola reported Schuiteman was expected to leave the club at the end of last season, as it was previously planned, but his contract was terminated prematurely.
It’s been reported Schuiteman’s primary focus was to sign players for a ‘special position’ with a ‘prominent feature’.
Schuiteman is expected to work under Marcel Bout, who is the head of global scouting at Manchester United.
Since Jose Mourinho arrived at Manchester United, the club have really worked to ramp up their scouting, however, it may not all be down to the Portuguese manager.
As Manchester United entered a new era after Sir Alex Ferguson, the club looked to increase their knowledge of talents around the world, and David Moyes has long been known for his keenness on scouting reports.
