Over the past year or so we’ve noticed a trend.
An increasing amount of Championship transfers are for ‘undisclosed fees’.
That works if both clubs involved and the player’s agent go along with it, but when the transfer involves a club outside of England it’s usually not too hard to find out the fee.
Therefore, when Sheffield Wednesday announced they’d signed Joey Pelupessy from Heracles and the fee was undisclosed, there was a good chance the fee would be reported in the Netherlands.
And that’s the case.
Reliable Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf broke the news that Pelupessy would become a Sheffield Wednesday player, and now they’ve revealed the price.
Heracles will be receiving ‘almost’ €500k from the Championship club for Pelupessy, which is considered good given he only had a few months of contact left.
Sheffield Wednesday also didn’t disclose Pelupessy’s contract length, and De Telegraaf have come up trumps there too: it’s two and a half years.
Keeping things secret on transfers is never easy, and ‘undisclosed’ often just means ‘not revealed in England’.
