Ajax defender Joel Veltman has spoken to the Dutch media with regards to speculation he could be heading to the Premier League in this transfer window. The 25-year-old has been linked with a move to West Ham United in the British media.

Voetbal Primeur have reported on comments Veltman made to Fox Sports after Ajax’s game this weekend. The defender was asked about his future following speculation West Ham are interested in the player.

Veltman revealed as yet he’s heard nothing concrete about a move to London in this window despite the interest from the Hammers. Veltman went on to say he doesn’t expect to leave Ajax this month with the deadline only next week.

“When do I go to London. I still haven’t heard anything concrete. That’s not going to happen within eight days,” said the Ajax star.

Last weekend The Mirror reported West Ham were chasing Veltman as Slaven Bilic looks to strengthen in defence. Bilic has already brought in José Fonte from Southampton in the recent days, but Veltman could still be an option.

West Ham would have to table a bid in the region of £8m to land the Netherlands international.
