Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly can join a side ‘more prestigious’ than Everton this summer, should he leave the Italian club.
That’s the opinion of journalist Alfredo Pedullà, who believes the Blues chances of getting the Senegalese defender are slim at best.
Koulibaly, as is the case every summer, has been heavily linked with a move away from Napoli, with this transfer window seen as his last opportunity to get a move.
Unlike last year when he was linked with several of Europe’s top clubs, his options appear to be slimmer this time around.
That has seen him linked with a possible reunion with former manager Carlo Ancelotti at Everton, with it claimed in England that the Blues will sell Mason Holgate and look to bring in Koulibaly as a replacement.
That would be an ambitious move for the Toffees, particularly given they look likely to miss out on European football next season. Pedullà, though, can’t see that happening.
“Koulibaly? With all due respect to Everton, but I don’t think he goes there,” he told Ne Parliamo il Lunedì, relayed by 100x100Napoli.
“I think he thinks he’s 31, and he can do another three years at a more prestigious team than Everton. If you keep Koulibaly next summer, you keep him for life.”
That, however, is not an opinion shared by fellow journalist Carlo Alvino, who believes there is every chance a reunion could happen at Goodison Park.
“Where will Kalidou Koulibaly go? The Premier League option is taking shape,” he told Area Napoli.
“And I don’t exclude that he could find Carlo Ancelotti again. The Senegalese and Fabian Ruiz could be the players sacrificed in the next transfer window. De Laurentiis would get a large sum of money.”
