Celtic goalkeeper Joe Hart has admitted elimination from the Europa Conference League at the hands of Bodø/Glimt was “hard to swallow”.

Ange Postecoglou’s side travelled to Norway for the second leg of their conference league meeting last night, looking to overturn a 3-1 defeat at Celtic Park.

It proved to be a highly disappointing evening for the Scottish giants, though, with an early goal from Ola Solbakken setting the tone for an eventual 2-0 defeat.

That saw them crash out of the tournament earlier than they would have expected, losing 5-1 on aggregate the Norwegian side, who have now progressed to the last 16.

Celtic did show signs of life either side of half-time and had the better of possession but were unable to put a finger on their opposition, managing just two shots on target in total.

While Bodø/Glimt’s goalkeeper was kept quiet, the same could not be said of Celtic number one Hart, who faced 13 shots in total, six of which were on target.

He wasn’t best pleased after the game and aired his frustrations to Norwegian outlet VG in the subsequent press conference, all the while showing a degree of sportsmanship and honesty by praising the Norwegian side’s performance.

“I was impressed with how they played against us,” he said.
“I do not know how far they can go. With all due respect, I’m done with them.
“They have done brilliantly and knocked us out. It’s hard to swallow, but good luck to them.”
