Flamengo-dedicated outlet Coluna do Fla today features an interesting piece regarding Tottenham Hotspur fullback Emerson Royal.
The story is written by their columnist Fabiano Abreu, who claims to have been invited by the player’s staff to make a job for him as an advisor.
The columnist points out that even though he tries to be neutral when working, he couldn’t stop himself from asking the Tottenham player about the chances of playing for Flamengo one day.
It turned out that the player’s response was so surprising that Abreu ended up convinced of writing a story with his quotes, as the fullback admitted his wish of playing for the Rio de Janeiro side one day.
“Who wouldn’t play for Flamengo? My dream is to play for Flamengo one day. It is the only club in Brazil today that comes close to the level of Premier League clubs,” said Royal.
Not quoting Royal, Abreu adds that the player pointed out the love he has for his former club Atletico Mineiro, but highlighted the ‘huge international importance’ that Flamengo have.
Now even though those statements are certainly exciting for the red and white fans, that should mean little regarding a potential transfer in the coming years, as the player has a contract with Tottenham running until 2026 and is likely to play many more seasons in Europe before considering this return to Brazil.
