Finishing 5th in last season’s Premier League, Liverpool will not be taking part in the Champions League, but rather the Europa League, this season.

This means their opponents might not be as glamorous, yet it gives Jürgen Klopp the opportunity of adding to his trophy collection, and gives him perhaps a bit more freedom for rotation.

That being said, there are clubs who are simply delighted to be in the competition, like Union Saint-Gilloise, who were drawn in the same group as Liverpool, where Lazare Amani simply cannot wait to play against the Reds.

The player was speaking after the 2-2 draw against Antwerp at the weekend, mostly about the performance, but was also asked about the Europa League draw.

As well as Liverpool, they will be facing Toulouse and Austrian side LASK Linz, but it’s the former of the trio that has caught his attention the most.

Relayed by Walfoot, he said: “It’s a great draw. We celebrated it when we learned about it on the plane. Playing the Europa League and Liverpool, it’s a dream!”

Amani was key in helping the Belgian side reach the Europa League in the first place, providing an assist in the first game as they saw off FC Lugano to qualify for the competition via the playoffs.
