Getafe’s hopes of signing Enes Ünal from Bournemouth this month have been ended by Evanilson’s unfortunately timed injury.
That’s according to Marca, who report that a transfer had been possible before the striker’s injury led to a change in circumstances.
They explain that despite Getafe president Ángel Torres admitting in the middle of December that bringing Ünal back to the club would be difficult, there was some hope they could do a deal with Bournemouth.
If it was difficult before, however, it is now ‘even more so’ as an injury to Evanilson has made a departure for Ünal practically impossible.
Evanilson has fractured his metatarsal after picking up an injury in the 1-0 win over Everton and underwent surgery on Tuesday. This was confirmed by Bournemouth in a statement on their website.
That means he’s set to be one the sidelines for several months and Ünal will now be the number one striker in the squad in the second half of the season.
That, in turn, means that Bournemouth will not be sanctioning any deals for him this month, a setback for Getafe’s already slim chances of getting him.
