Nottingham Forest picked up a 3-0 win over Wolves earlier this week.
The win put them level on points with second-placed Arsenal and gave Nuno Espirito Santo’s side further hope of a European finish this season.
There is now a four-point gap between Nottingham Forest and Chelsea, and Nuno’s side are also six points clear of sixth-placed Manchester City. They are well above both Tottenham and Manchester United in the table.
The club’s owner Evangelos Marinakis has spoken to Gazzetta dello Sport in an interview about the current season and he stated that qualifying for Europe would be a dream come true for him and Nottingham Forest.
He said: “A dream come true. Sometimes it happens and you have to believe in it. We will give our all to give this satisfaction to our fans.”
When asked about what is behind the team’s form and success this season, Marinakis said: “The work, choosing the right people to have alongside you and the fans. Our people in Greece carry us, but the atmosphere is also fantastic in Nottingham. In our stadium you can breathe the history of a club that has won the European Cup.”
Speaking further, the Greek owner said: “It’s a great satisfaction that rewards our work.”
“In the pre-season the results had comforted us and we were confident, but the boys are going beyond expectations: there is a great team spirit between the older and younger players.”
Marinakis comes across as someone who truly cares about Nottingham Forest and he has shown that since their rise to the Premier League, considering how well the club has spent on transfers.
Their setup this season is built on a solid backline and they have conceded the second lowest number of goals – 19. They have scored less goals than the entire top 12, but their defensive structure has stood tall.
Their next game sees them take on Liverpool and it could prove to be a vital test for their European credentials.
